Chris "Gilkey" Gilkey is a Halo esports player, currently a player for Lux Gaming. He is well known for his time with teams like Purgatory and Ambush.
Biography[edit]
Halo 3[edit]
Gilkey's career began at MLG San Diego 2008, where he played on team Phobia with Squirrel, Assault, and bradfox2, finishing twenty-first. After being eliminated in the open bracket at MLG Orlando, Gilkey joined End Result with Madmax, Moniz, and DARKscorpion. They took thirteenth place at MLG Toronto.
After sitting out the rest of the 2008 season, End Result returned at MLG Meadowlands 2009 with TalenT having replaced DARKscorpion. They took fourteenth place at the season opening event. Gilkey then joined Ambush with NeXuS, TiZoXiC, and GuN ShoT. The team took tenth place at MLG Columbus. With Mackeo replacing GuN ShoT for MLG Dallas, the team took a step back with a sixteenth place finish. Gilkey then left Ambush to join Xdao Virtuosity with Painless, J3TTY, and Robbie B. They took eighteenth at MLG Anaheim and again at the MLG Orlando National Championships.
Going into the 2010 season, Gilkey joined Chilled Reality alongside ThuggishKilla, Elumnite, and CallMeGod. They took sixteenth place at MLG Orlando 2010. The team replaced CallMeGod with Karma and became Illuminati for MLG Columbus, where they finished twelfth. Following Columbus, Gilkey and Karma split from their teammates and joined Purgatory alongside Mimic and KillerDrew. The team took eighth place at MLG Raleigh, Gilkey's first money finish. Unfortunately, they finished only fourteenth at MLG D.C., not enough to qualify for Dallas. Gilkey retired from Halo for many years after 2010.
Halo 5: Guardians[edit]
Gilkey returned to competitive Halo after a near seven year break in 2017, first competing at ME Las Vegas as a member of Virtuosity Gaming alongside PiLEZ, Nexium, and Thrust. The team took a top twenty-four finish at the event. Gilkey and PiLEZ then joined Believe the Hype alongside fellow returning veteran D3M0N D and SneakyBran. With a top sixteen placing at UMG Daytona, Gilkey earned money in his second event after returning. A revised BtH lineup featuring Cloud in place of SneakyBran failed to qualify for the Pro League. After juggling teammates over the Summer 2017 Open Circuit, Gilkey and PiLEZ ended up attending DreamHack Atlanta with Primal alongside Calm and Alpha, finishing in the top fourty-four.
Gilkey and PiLEZ split over the offseason. Gilkey eventually joined Fynd Gaming alongside EliElite, Ferro2Clutch, and SneakyBran. The team placed well in a few Open Circuit cups before finishing in the top twenty-six at DreamHack Denver.
Going into Halo World Championship 2018 season, Gilkey reunited with D3M0N D, recruiting rising star Nebula and KLTNn to fill out a roster that was picked up by Wise Gaming. After a top sixteen finish at MLG Orlando, Wise made a big pickup, replacing KLTNn with Commonly. With Commonly on board, Wise took a ninth place finish at MLG Columbus, successfully earning the final spot at Worlds. At Worlds, Wise finished third in their pool, handily beating Mindfreak but losing to Renegades and TOX Gaming, resulting in a top twelve finish.
