Joshua "Mash" Mashlan is an American coach for Str8 Rippin. He has also coached teams such as Team CryptiK and SetToDestroyX.
Biography[edit]
Halo 4[edit]
With the release of Halo 4, Mash decided to stop competing as a player and move to coaching. He achieved moderate success with a variety of teams, including a top 8 placing coaching the Paradigm Shift roster of Cizzzats, Reaper, Spiderman and Squidy at AGL 3 Chicago. He followed this up with back to back top 12 finishes as the coach of Team Cynical. At AGL 5 Nashville, the roster consisted of Cizzzats, Arbin, Elumnite and Snakes Solstice. At AGL 7 Knoxville, Cizzzats and Elumnite were replaced by Spartan and MoNsTcR.
The following year, Mash coached the Vas'Avi roster of RyaNoob, Shooter, Str8 SicK and Arkanum to 1st place at RTX 2014, upsetting the heavily favored Reign 812 roster in the process.
Halo 5: Guardians[edit]
Mash entered the Halo 5 scene in mid-2016, first coaching team Sicker Than Your Average's roster of Blaze, Musa, Burton and BotchyHawk during the Open Circuit Fall Season. The roster was eventually signed by SetToDestroyX, with Musa and BotchyHawk eventually replaced by Calm Mentality and TiZoXiC. Midway through the season, Mash left StDx to coach 6S Gaming. The roster consisted of TriPPPeY, Saiyan, BoamX and TireIron. They successfully qualified for Relegation after a 2nd place finish in the Open Circuit Finals at HCS Las Vegas 2016. In the Championship Bracket of the event, 6S finished top 12. Mash was unable to coach the roster at Relegation due to schedule constraints.
Mash then joined TBD as coach, overseeing a roster of Prototype, RyaNoob, DasTroyed and BabyJ. TBD took 1st place in both the ESML Fall 2016 Regular Season and the Season Finals. The team was eventually signed by Team CryptiK and attended ME Las Vegas 2017 with the goal of qualifying for Halo World Championship 2017. They fell short, despite an impressive upset over Evil Geniuses. The following week, BabyJ was dropped in exchange for PreDevoNatoR, but CryptiK were still unable to qualify through the LCQ.
During the offseason, RyaNoob and DasTroyed joined up with Nemassist and ContrA, initially as TBD. The roster was acquired by Oxygen Supremacy shortly after forming. At UMG Daytona, Oxygen Supremacy went undefeated in the Open Bracket and made a splash early in the Championship Bracket, sweeping Luminosity Gaming and taking out Str8 Rippin in 4 games. In the Winners Semifinals, they narrowly lost to Team EnVyUs in 5 games before being eliminated by Splyce in the Losers Bracket for a top 6 finish. Oxygen Supremacy went on to dominate the Summer 2017 Open Circuit, winning all four cups and earning a top spot in the Relegation Bracket at DreamHack Atlanta. In Atlanta, OS were successful in their bid to qualify, beating Str8 Rippin in the process. In the opening Championship Bracket round, OS upset Evil Geniuses 3-2 before being swept by Team EnVyUs. They were then beat 3-2 by eRa Eternity and sent home in the top twelve.
Going into the Halo World Championship 2018 season, Nemassist, DasTroyed, and Mash teamed up with eL ToWn and Musa to form Oreos. After replacing eL ToWn with Rammyy and earning the 7th seed going into Week #4 of the season, Oreos were signed by Str8 Rippin. At MLG Orlando, Str8 finished second in their pool but were defeated early by OpTic Gaming. After a 3-0 win over Vexed Gaming, Str8 lost to Fyra Gaming and were sent home with a top eight finish.
