Noble Black is a former team that competed in Halo Championship Series seasons 1 and 2. They were a part of the Noble eSports organization.

History

Halo 2 Anniversary

On January 1, 2015, Noble announced the acquisition of a second team, consisting of captain Arkanum, ContrA, Blaze, and Randa. This team took the name of "Noble Black". Noble Black finished in the top 12 at UGC St. Louis 2015. Following UGC, Noble Black underwent a major revision, with Blaze and Randa leaving, and Aries and MaNiaC replacing them. This team placed top 8 in HCS Cup #4 and 2nd in HCS Cup #5. ContrA then left the team, and was replaced by APG. They placed top 4 in the next two HCS Cups, defeating the powerhouse Counter Logic Gaming squad in both, and went into Gamers For Giving with momentum on their side and a new coach YosH. However, they were knocked out of the Winner's Bracket by CLG, and then fell victim to a 3-2 upset at the hands of former Noble team Reality Check, ending their tournament with a 9-12th place finish. Despite the disappointing finish, Noble Black qualifed for PAX East 2015 due to Legendary failing to place high enough to take the 8th seed. Noble Black went into PAX East with the 8th seed, meaning they had to face European team TGN Vibe to keep the seed and enter the tournament bracket. NB defeated Vibe 3-1 in the first match of the tournament to advance to the Winners Bracket, where they faced off against Evil Geniuses in Round 1. They were defeated 3-1. Noble mounted a mighty comeback in the Losers Bracket, first upsetting OpTic Halo 3-1 in Round 1. In the next round, they upset Denial eSports 3-2. They continued the run in Round 3, upsetting Cloud9 3-2 to guarantee top 3. In the Losers Finals, Noble Black faced the 7th seeded CLG, losing 3-2 in an extremely close series which included four replays of Game 5 Shrine Team Slayer due to draws. CLG ended Noble Black's tournament and season with a season-high 3rd placing. Noble Black's average LAN placing in HCS Season 1 was 8.17. Their total winnings amounted to $10,450.

On March 15, MaNiaC confirmed on Twitter that he was leaving Noble Black to join OpTic Halo. Hours later, it was announced that APG was leaving Noble Black to join Denial eSports, leaving Arkanum and Aries as a duo. Despite a contract dispute with MaNiaC making his departure uncertain, Arkanum soon announced the acquisition of Str8 SicK and Prototype to the Noble Black roster. MaNiaC's departure was made official that night. On March 28, another team change was made, with Noble parting ways with Str8 SicK and announcing the acquisition of Ninja. At Iron Games Atlanta 2015, Noble Black was upset early on by the 10th seeded Velocity, losing 2-1. They battled back however, defeating Annex Black, Element 6 Gaming and eXcellence before falling 3-1 to Winterfox. They then defeated Velocity in a consolation rematch to take 7th place. Over the following weeks, the members of Noble Black individually left and were released by the organization, as they turned their focus to building a new roster under the Noble eSports banner.
